Up 12K off a 2% drop top to bottom - you play big, my friend.
Glad to help. Remember that that correlation was for the VIX, which is an indirect measure of the S&P. I would think that trading BB on SDS would also be effective, perhaps worth looking at in more detail.

I guess it did not hurt that I played the QID and SKF along with the SDS picking them up close to their lows and exiting near their highs around 3:55 .... this does not happen often enough ! I guess sometimes I play too big for my own good ... but not today!

Rough day so far today - It's only 10:30 AM and the average yield on the open trades has dropped into negative territory (now at -0.34%, was at +4.01% two days ago). Ouch.
Keeping an eye on both CRGN and ICON to see where they net out. If they close above yesterday's close, i'll take that as a confirmation for entry.

Kevin:
They all will bounce back. Don't forget these stocks are not the dogs of Wall Street, if the top guns can't survive than the whole country will be in the tank. CAT,AAPL, plus other leaders are retracing.

Agreed on all points.
ICON is currently down 0.70 (-4.34%) from yesterday's close.
CRGN is up about 0.02 (+1.50%) from yesterday's close.

BUY filter pulled up the following:
ICON (again)
ALLI
OFG
ARTG (already in portfolio)
Confirmation filter posted above gives no hits - both CRGN and ICON closed lower today. I'm keeping these in a separate watchlist right now, so that I can see when they give a confirmation signal.

Kevin,
I've been following your Bollinger(16,2.5) filter as it is similar to the system I follow, i.e., seeks to identify extreme price moves. Let me offer some ideas on how I use trading entry and exits.
1st, when my filter identifies a stock, I wait for Slow Stochastic(7,3) %K to go below 25 before it crosses above the %D (trigger line). So far this hasn't helped my entry on STEC (bought in Sept. 22 at $31) but this provides a logical stop loss below the recent low. I think of it as a form of insurance. We'll see how this plays out tomorrow.
2nd, I try to line up with the fundamentals by checking out a couple of sites:
http://www.nasdaq.com/earnings/analyst_summary.asp?symbol=STEC&symbol=GLW&selected=STEC
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/StockRating/srsmain.asp?symbol=stec
I appreciate your sharing your work. Also your taking the time to pass along the IBD top stocks list.

I agree with your stopped clock description of Cramer but but I watch him for entertainment value (he's almost as funny as Seinfeld). Sometimes he comes up with a good idea which I check out before plutting any money on it. My wife can't stand him so it's a good thing we have 2 TV's. It was interesting to google his recommendations record.
